Burj Al-luqluq, a historical monument in the northeastern corner of the Old City of Jerusalem dated back to the year 945 AH / 1538 AD, is distinguished by its artistic beauty and its presence near the historic walls of Jerusalem.

Burj Al-Luqluq Kindergarten

The kindergarten is considered an important facility within a building comprising three facilities where they were renovated and merged into one building in 1998 with funding from the Welfare Association and with the support of the Orient House in Jerusalem, especially after the events that took place in the area where settlers placed 11 mobile homes on site in attempt of controlling and seizing it.

The kindergarten began its work in 1998, and it was opened mainly for the children of the Old City. The kindergarten’s building was demolished in 1998 under the pretext of not having a license, but the center’s management moved the building to another place on site and continued its work. Despite the demolition and the attempt to obstruct the work of Burj al-Luqluq, the kindergarten is still working today.

The facility was converted into a computer lab in 2006 to serve the people of the Old City, and in 2018 the lab took the name of Mr. Hasan Samadi. All computers and electronic equipment were funded by the “Women for Jerusalem” association in Amman, and the laboratory still serves the youth and children of the Old City today.

The center aims to empower the women and youth of Jerusalem by teaching them pottery and drawing on ceramics. Today, the facility houses machinery, workshop, showroom, and a continuous production line.
